After a long, exhausting few days looking for apartments to rent here in Ecuador, we ran across an apartment that is attached to a lovely older Ecuadorian couple’s house who ran their place in the newspaper. We went to see it and it was absolutely amazing. The yard has a few gazebos with hammocks, a soccer field, a garden, a bar, a tree perch, a meditation room, an outdoor fireplace, etc., all in the middle of the city. When you are on the property, you are taken from a happening little town to a whole other world.
It was clear pretty quickly that we couldn’t imagine not living in this place. After a stressful day waiting to hear back from the couple concerning their decision to rent the place to us, we finally got an email from them saying “Yes!” We were beyond excited. We have spent three glorious days here now, much of our time hanging out with our new parents, Cecilia and Enrique. They are the kindest, most generous people we could have ever asked for. They are truly showing us la vida ecuatoriana.
And most importantly, there’s two ridiculous little doggies. Their names are Osha and Osho.
I don’t know how we ever got so lucky.
